Princes Risborough
- 60 miles A hilly ride - do this inside
three hours door-to-door and you'll know you are going OK.
- At Thame
, take the A4129 to Princes Risborough.
- Go straight on at the second mini roundabout, up a hill then
down again, then up to a hairpin bend with a little road leading
straight on; double back round the hairpin to come out at the
top at a T-junction.
- Turn right along the ridge, then left at the windmill to Lacey
Green.
- After about two miles, turn right down a very steep, bumpy,
narrow descent to Saunderton.
- Cross the A4010 back onto a minor road and follow this to the
three-way junction at the foot of Bledlow Ridge. Take the leftmost
road. From here there are two options. Either:
- Turn left again through The City to come out in Stokenchurch;
then cross the A40 and down the very steep descent at Ibstone
to Turville; turn right to return via Christmas Common and Watlington.
This is about 70 miles, and would make a good clubrun in reverse
if you could find a cafe in Princes Risborough.
- Alternatively the sixty mile variant keeps going steadily upwards
from the three-way junction; turn right before Radnage, then left
and right through Town End to eventually come down the steep hill
into Chinor; then it is straight back through Chinor to
Thame.
This ride could be improved,
by lengthening it slightly, so as not to use the road to and from
Thame twice.
