Malmesbury - At least 90 miles

This is based on a ride of 105 miles I did a few years ago, that went Burford - Northleach - Cirencester - Malmesbury - Cricklade - Highworth - Faringdon - Oxford. There is almost certinly a cafee in Malmesbury; unfortunately, I turned up with £1-19 in my pocket and no money in my bank account, so I ended up eating a roll and an iced bun from a bakers instead. Definitely worth a visit, though probably only in the summer.

  • At Fairford , take the A417 through the village towards Cirencester.
  • Turn left after about three miles on the A417, through Meysey Hampton to Down Ampney and eventually the A419.
  • Go straight across the A419; turn right in Cerney Wick then left at the next crossroads; follow this road through the middle of the Cotswold water park to Oaksey.
  • Take the right fork after Oaksey to Eastcourt; then turn left to Crudwell and right to Malmesbury.
  • From Malmesbury, follow the B4040 through Minety to Cricklade.
  • Turn right onto the A419 then next left off at Seven Bridges to Castle Eaton, Hannington and Highworth.
  • From Highworth it's back through Coleshill and Faringdon, the first half of the Highworth ride in reverse.
