Lambourn - 27 miles (one way)

There are two main routes to / from Lambourn.

The first goes:

  • Leave Oxford down the Abingdon Road, over Boars Hill to reach the Abingdon-Cumnor B4017 road.
  • Turn left then right through Cothill then straight over the cross roads to Marcham.
  • Turn right onto the A415, then left at the A338 junction towards Wantage
  • Take the first right off the A338 through Garford.
  • Straight over the crossroads, through Lyford to Charney Bassett.
  • Turn left in Charney Bassett, then right after half a mile through Goosey to come out on the A417.
  • Right then left (signposted to Baulking) at the A417.
  • After a mile turn left, under the railway, to eventually go up a medium length climb to Kingston Lisle.
  • Turn left to reach the crossroads at the foot of Blowing Stone Hill, a more serious climb, go up the hill and keep going into Lambourn.

The other route goes:

  • Leaving Oxford on the Botley Road, go up to Cumnor and down the Eaton and Appleton road.
  • Cross the A415 and continue through Longworth and Hinton Waldrist to the A420.
  • Turn right then left at the A420 through Pusey
  • Fork left to Stanford-in-the-Vale. Go through this rather large village onto the A417
  • Turn left onto the A417, then right after about a mile onto the Baulking road; from here it is the same as before.
