OUCC mountain bike club is involved in a vibrant racing scene that anyone from enthusiasts to shaven legged whippets are welcome to participate in.   The local Gorrick cross country races held in and around the Bracknell forest area are great events which attract large fields of all ability, the courses are fun and involving with a usual race taking place over between 15 and 20 miles, and the whole event is backed up with a friendly atmosphere, trade stands and some phunky tunes!   If downhill is more your thang then Aston hill holds a series of races normally staring in the spring and is only 40minutes drive from Oxford . Also the Southern area holds a series of races that OUCC members have been known to attend. Enduro events are also catered for; the Merida series and Salisbury Plain Challenge are great events with a brilliant atmosphere and fun courses. For the insomniacs Oxford usually fields a couple of teams at sleepless in the saddle and the mountain mayhem 24hr races. These events have to be experienced, I have sworn that I would never do one again for the past three years of competing in them :-)
