Let's face it Oxford is pretty flat (despite what your non-cycling friends may say!). To get to big hills you need to go further a field. There a number of good hills near the village of Brill about 10 miles east of Oxford . There are some tough climbs up the Chilterns escarpment 15 miles to the south east of Oxford . Try the road from Watlington to Christmas common (route of the OUCC hill-climb) and the roads out of the villages of Kingston Blount and Chinnor. Around 15-20 miles to the south west there are some good climbs up to the Ridgeway. Have a go at White horse hill and Blowingstone hill. Perhaps hardest of them all (within easy reach of Oxford ) is Streatley hill. 20 miles to the south of Oxford this is the course for the timetrial.co.uk hill-climb, expect to need 39x21 or lower.

So why not have a go, what's the worst that can happen (apart from intense lactate burn, blurred vision and extreme nausea... ahem...)?!
